The CISD Dual Language Academy will prepare students to meet the challenges of an interdependent world community by providing a bilingual and multicultural learning environment through immersion that enables participants to communicate in another language, master all curricular subjects, and develop intercultural understanding and respect.

Deer Creek Elementary Dual Language Academy affords students the opportunity to become bi-literate in Spanish and English in order that they may interact comfortably and sensitively in both cultures as well as community and career settings. 

  

Students may enroll as young as Pre-Kindergarten age by meeting language qualifications. All other students are eligible to enter in Kindergarten or first grade. In PK, Kindergarten and first grades students receive Language Arts instruction in their native language. Science and Social Studies are delivered in Spanish to all students and math is taught in English to all students. In grades second and above, students experience Language Arts instruction in English and Spanish.

 

Following the research-based model of Drs. Gomez & Gomez, Crowley ISD encourages growth for these students in a challenging learning environment that research shows develops more cognitive pathways and ultimately opportunity as the students become bi-literate academically and socially. 

  

Families are encouraged to commit to the learning model for all of a child's elementary career.
