2017 CREDIT BY EXAMINATION INFORMATION

  • Credit by Exam for Advancement or Acceleration 
    Crowley ISD will provide Credit by Examination in grades 1-12 for the purpose of grade or course acceleration. Students must be enrolled in CISD to be eligible for Credit by Exam. Applications are available at the school counselors office.     Registration Deadline: April 4, 2017 
    Testing Dates: June 5-8, 2017

    • Students in grades 1-5 may be accelerated one grade level upon successful completion of the required exams, school recommendation and parent consent. Students must score 80% on each examination for acceleration in the areas of language arts, math, science and social studies with no prior instruction in the requested testing area.
     
    • Students in grades 6-12 may earn credit for an academic course upon successful completion of the exam and school recommendation.
     
    • Students must be enrolled in CISD to be eligible for Credit by Exam and must score 80% on each subject area examination for acceleration.
     
    • Middle School students must pass both semesters to earn credit.
     
    • Students must have had no prior instruction in the test area.
     

    Credit by Exam for Credit Retrieval 
    CISD will provide Credit by Examination for the purpose of credit retrieval in a failed class. Students must be enrolled in CISD to be eligible for Credit by Exam. Applications are available at the school counselors office. For questions about Credit by Exam or to discuss application process please contact school counselor’s office.

    Registration Deadline: May 30, 2017 
    Testing Dates: July 24-26, 2017
     
    • Students must score a 70% on the credit by exam in order to retrieve a credit/passing grade.
    • Students must have had prior instruction in the grade or area in which they are testing.
    • Students may not register to take a CBE for retrieval until the semester in which they are enrolled in the course/grade has ended.
    • Students must have consent of parents, school recommendation and successful completion of the required exams in order to regain credit. 
     

     
    Things to Remember
    • Students may take two tests on each test date. (ie. English A, English B)
    • Registration deadlines must be met so that tests may be ordered from Texas Tech University.
    • Students must have the recommendation of campus principal/designee and parent/guardian.
    • Transportation is not provided.
