Eleven Crowley ISD student-athletes have now signed their National Letters of Intent to play football at various universities and colleges in 2020.

Overall, the class will be scattered across six different states next fall. On Wednesday morning, North Crowley High School senior Christopher Taylor inked with Stephen F. Austin State University in front of a crowd of family, teammates and coaches at Panther Fieldhouse. He joins cornerback Kaylon Washington who signed his letter of intent to continue his career at the University of Tulsa in December.

Crowley High School saw five different Eagles sign on Wednesday as safety Carlton Thomas will take his talents to McPherson College in Kansas, while cornerback Jerome Williams will stay in the Lone Star State after signing with McMurry University in Abilene. A trio of Eagles will head to Oklahoma in 2020 to play for Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla. Donning the Blue and Yellow will be linebacker Elijah Deering, wide receiver MJ Tillman and offensive lineman Trinton Jones.

During the early signing period, CHS running back Dominique Johnson, who had been verbally committed to Missouri all season, surprised the crowd at Senter Gym by donning a University of Arkansas t-shirt and signing to play for the Razorbacks next fall. The Eagles’ safety tandem of Bryson Bonds and Darrell Talley will take their talents to the Midwest, playing 200 miles apart at Indiana University and Illinois State University, respectively. Cornerback Xavier Goynes was the lone CISD signee to remain in the Lone Star State, inking with Texas Southern University.

Wednesday's National Signing Day is the second period a high school senior can sign a binding Letter of Intent for college football. Although there are numerous signing periods for college sports, football, which also offers a December signing period, is the most followed. A letter of intent is binding for both the player and school for one academic year as long as the player is eligible to enroll at the college.
