The Crowley ISD family is remembering the life and legacy of former Superintendent Dr. Sidney H. Poynter who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the age of 85. Dr. Poynter was the first superintendent of Crowley ISD, serving in that role for 40 years from 1963 to 2003. He was also the namesake of Poynter Elementary School which opened in 2005.

The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees approved a resolution in memory of Dr. Poynter and proclaimed that the district will observe a Day of Leadership and Service in Memory of Dr. Poynter every year on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Click below to read the resolution.
