Daryl R. Davis II is excited not only about the academic progress students are making in Crowley ISD, but also the long-term impact their high-quality education will have on the community.

“We are building the future workforce,” Davis said. “Strong schools build strong communities. I believe because we are doing it differently here in Crowley ISD, because we are providing that high-quality education, our future looks very bright for our city, and I’m excited about that."

Elected to the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees in 2022, Davis wants to ensure CISD is the best district in Tarrant County and that students from all backgrounds receive the best education.

“There are students from all walks of life, all parts of this globe, who are here in our district, and I believe that there should be equity in opportunities,” he said. “That’s what I want to make sure that we continue to do here in our district.”

He wants students to know that Crowley ISD believes in them and the community is cheering for them.

“Dr. McFarland says it all the time, that diversity and excellence are not mutually exclusive,” he said. “That is something that I really want our students to take to heart, that in spite of where they come from, what they look like, what others may view as a deficiency — they can still be the best.”

He also wants to be a voice and a resource for those working on the front lines of education, and a place where they can share their concerns.

A native of Fort Worth and father of two, Davis is the executive pastor of Inspiring Temple of Praise Church in Fort Worth. He also is a graduate recruiter in Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business. Davis has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and master’s degree in Education.

A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., he is the first African American board chair for the Presbyterian Night Shelter and CFO of Integrity Community Development Corporation, a group working to find solutions for homeless veterans.

Previously, he served as head master for the Inspiring Temple of Praise Academy, a private school through his church, and worked as a Dallas College adjunct professor.

Since joining the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees, one of the accomplishments he’s proud of is his work to revamp the sign-up process for the Open Forum section of school board meetings to ensure residents have the chance to have their voices heard.

He’s also proud of the work he and other community members were able to do in helping educate voters about the 2023 Bond, and that the district was able to pass a $1.04 billion bond program.

“Although all three propositions didn’t pass, I’m proud of the fact that still over $1 billion was supported by the community,” Davis said. “So, we’re going to be able to deal with the exponential growth we are experiencing here in Crowley ISD, but more importantly, we’re going to be able to make sure our students have the best possible opportunities.”

Education is part of his purpose and calling in life, and serving on the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees is a perfect intersection of his love for education and love of the community.

“I’m honored to serve,” he said. “I keep before me every day the fact that I have been given a great honor and with that honor comes responsibility. I’m honored that the community entrusted me, an unknown to some degree, and gave me the opportunity to serve, and at the end of the day, that’s all I want to do.”

Fun Fact: Davis is an adventurist who loves skydiving, rollercoasters and zip lines. He was also a drum major in high school.
