Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to request a transfer every year?
No. If your student is seated at a campus with a valid transfer, they do not need another transfer to remain at that campus. Students will remain at the requested campus up to the highest grade only if the student continues to meet transfer rules and expectations. Transfer resubmission is not necessary each academic year until the student transitions to a new campus due to a grade level not being present at that campus such as 5th grade to 6th grade or 8th grade to 9thgrade. All approved transfers for 9th grade students will follow the student through graduation given they have met transfer requirements.
I heard Crowley ISD is an open district, is this true?
Crowley ISD is an open district allowing out of district students to attend with an approved transfer. Transfers are granted on a case-by-case basis, depending on various campus and district considerations and must be requested during the transfer window.
When can I transfer my student to a different campus?
Student transfers are only processed during the transfer window. This occurs in the spring/summer for the following school year.
I am an employee. When are transfers processed for employee students?
Transfers for ALL students, including employee students, are processed at the same time, during the transfer window. This occurs in the spring/summer for the following school year.
What is the “transfer window”?
The transfer window is the only time that transfers are processed for Crowley ISD. This generally occurs in the spring/summer for the following school year. Board policy does not allow general transfers during the school year.
Can I request a transfer for multiple campuses?
No, duplicate transfer requests will be denied.
When will I receive a response for my transfer application to my requested campus?
It can take 10 business days to receive an answer.
How will I know if/when the transfer has been processed?
You will receive an email when you submit the transfer application. This may go to your junk or spam folder. If you do not receive this, you either failed to hit the “submit” button or your email is incorrect on the application. Log in and verify you submitted the application. Once the application is processed you will receive an email with the campus decision.
What factors are considered when approving or denying a transfer?
Many factors are considered in the transfer of a student. The campus must look at available space on the campus and in the requested grade level, available resources such as campus staffing, student needs be it current students or those requesting to transfer.
What information do I need to transfer my student?
All basic student and residential information are required. Transfer applications require a valid proof of residency, most recent discipline report, and most recent attendance report. Additionally, out of district students will need to provide a most recent grade report.
I am unable to move forward with the application without uploading the requested documents. What should I do?
Obtain the requested documents and upload them as soon as possible while the transfer window is still open. The application requires the requested documents to complete the application process.
My student has been approved to attend Pre-K 3 programming at a Crowley ISD campus. Can my other student(s) attend the same campus?
Siblings may apply for a transfer to attend that campus allowing all students to attend same campus. An application for transfer is not a guarantee your student will be seated at the requested campus. Pre-K 3 programming is only offered at select campuses and is considered a choice program.
My student receives special education programming at the campus they are at. Do I need a transfer for my other student(s) to attend the same campus?
No, you do not need a transfer for other students to attend the same campus as a student receiving services from a centralized program given that campus has available space. Contact the campus to verify they have space to seat your other student(s).
My transfer was denied. What is my next step?
If your transfer was denied, your student will need to attend their home campus. For appeal procedures, contact the denying campus.

Transfer Guidelines
- Transfer request must be completed by guardian.
- No transportation is provided by the district, except as required by other laws.
- Applications are accepted during open windows.
- Students who do not enroll or choose to withdraw may lose their transfer permission.
- Approved students will remain at the campus up to the highest grade only if the student continues to meet transfer rules and expectations. Transfer resubmission is not necessary each academic year until the student transitions to a new campus due to a grade level not being present at that campus.
- After an application is approved, a new application must be filed when a student requests to move to a different campus and when a student transitions from fifth - sixth grade and eighth - ninth grade if they choose to attend a campus outside of their home zone. At that time, the student will remain in their ninth grade high school feeder until graduation unless a transfer request is re-submitted.
- Students must abide by all UIL rules. Students should check eligibility rules with the school.
Expectations
If the transfer is approved, the student is expected to follow school rules, attend school regularly, maintain passing grades, uphold appropriate behavior and participate in school activities when possible.
Parents are expected to assist their children in their academic efforts, support good behavior, ensure their children are on time and ready for school each day, and be supportive of the school’s goals and objectives. Failure to meet any of these expectations may result in a transfer being revoked.
- District policy also states that, with proper documentation, the transfer may be revoked due to poor academic performance, low attendance, excessive tardies or misbehavior.
- The campus will notify the parent of any concerns regarding the transfer and revocation.
- If the permission is revoked, the student will need to enroll in their home campus the following semester.
- Annually, the district will identify school at maximum capacity and close transfers at those schools.
