Why is Pre-Kindergarten important?
Students who are given the advantage of attending a Pre-K program develop much needed emotional, academic, and social skills they may otherwise lack when entering kindergarten. Students who develop self-regulation skills gain confidence as they master academic concepts and learn to cooperate with their peers helping them to be more successful in kindergarten and beyond.
How old does my child have to be to enroll in Pre-K?
A child must be three (3) years old on or before Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to enter Pre-K 3 program or four (4) years old on or before Tuesday, September 1, 2020 to enter a Pre-K 4 program.
Does my child have to qualify to go to Pre-K for free?
Currently, students must qualify for free pre-k by meeting one of the following federal guidelines:
• Limited ability to speak and comprehend English language
• Economically educationally disadvantaged
• Homeless
• The dependent of an active duty member of the Armed Forces
• The dependent of a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the Armed Forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
• Child has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services
• The dependent of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award
What if I do not meet the qualification above?
Children who are four years old on or before September 1 of the current school year and who do not qualify for free pre-kindergarten program, are eligible to enroll in Crowley ISD's Tuition-Based Pre-K Program. Enroll your four-year-old child for $200-400 a month August through May. The tuition amount is based on your household income. Payments will be due by the 10th of every month. Payments can be submitted electronically. Parents can sign up for an account to pay their tuition through RevTrak. To sign up and make payments please visit: RevTrak Homepage.
The first payment is due August 10, 2020. The last payment is due May 10, 2021. Tuition is not pro-rated. Failure to make payment may result in removal from CISD’s tuition-based program. My child is three-years-old and does not qualify for Pre-K. Can I enroll in a tuition-based program?
The tuition-based Pre-K is for four-year-old students only.What school will my four-year-old student attend?
Pre-kindergarten for four-year-old students will be offered at all elementary campuses.Is transportation provided?
Transportation is available to students enrolled in a Pre-K 4 program if they live further than 2 miles from their home campus. For safety reasons, Pre-K 3 students are not permitted to ride CISD school buses.Will you offer Pre-K for three-year-old students?
Four campuses will offer half day Pre-K for qualifying three-year-old students.
What campus will my 3-year-old student attend?
Pre-kindergarten for three-year-old students will be offered at the following campuses:
• Bess Race Elementary - If your home school is Bess Race, Deer Creek, J.A. Hargrave or S.H. Crowley Elementary.
• Meadowcreek Elementary - If your home school is Meadowcreek, Jackie Carden or Mary Harris Elementary.
• Oakmont Elementary - If your home school is Oakmont, June W. Davis, Dallas Park or Sue Crouch Elementary.
• Parkway Elementary - If your home school is Parkway, Poynter, Sycamore or David L. Walker Elementary.
Is there a full day option for three-year-old students?
Full day Pre-K is offered to three-year-old students through our Pre-K Plus partnership with Child Care Associates. These full day programs are offered at Meadowcreek Elementary and Parkways Elementary. Students must meet Head Start eligibility to participate in this program. What is Pre-K Plus?
Pre-K Plus is a collaboration between CISD and Child Care Associates. This collaboration allows the two organization to join forces and offer full-day, full-school-year services to students and their families. Each Pre-K Plus classrooms has one CISD and one Head Start staff and access to other professionals that support young learners and their families.
Where is Pre-K plus offered and how do I enroll?
Pre-K Plus programs are offered at the following campuses:
• Meadowcreek Elementary (Pre-K Plus for 3 and 4-year-old students)
• Parkway Elementary (Pre-K Plus for 3 and 4-year-old students)
Students that are in the Meadowcreek Elementary and Parkway Elementary attendance zones are eligible to participate in Pre-K plus if they meet the requirements. Other students outside of the Meadowcreek Elementary and Parkway Elementary attendance areas may apply if there are remaining spaces.
How do I qualify for Pre-K plus offered?
To be eligible for Pre-K Plus you must meet the following criteria:
• Child must be at least 3 years old by Tuesday, September 1 and meet one of the following
• 100% poverty level
• Homeless
• Foster Care
• Public Assistance (TANF & SSI ONLY)
• Disability - As defined by LEA and Part B standards.
Does my child need to be potty trained to attend Pre-K?
Children that are not yet potty trained may not be excluded from school. Parents are strongly encouraged to start preparing their child to independently access the restroom. CISD has a Personal Care Plan in place to support children that have frequent accidents. All pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students are required to have a complete change of clothes at school daily to ensure that your student can change into clean clothes should they soil themselves.
What documents are needed for registration?
• Parent/Guardian Photo ID
Proof of age and identity of the student such as:
• Birth Certificate
• Adoption Records
• Any other legal document that establishes an identity
• Current Immunization Record
Proof of Address such as:
• Utility Bill
• Lease Agreement
Proof of Income such as:
• Current Check Stubs
• 2019 Income Tax
• TANF Award Letter
• Social Security Award Letter
• Unemployment Benefits Letter
• Child Support Letter
• Medicaid
• Food Stamp Award Letter
Will I need to provide updated documentation of my income at the beginning of the school year?
No. If you provide information at the registration you will not need to provide additional proof.
Can my child go to a campus other than our neighborhood school?

Is my child guaranteed a spot in Pre-K?
All eligible students are guaranteed access to pre-kindergarten. Tuition based Pre-K seats are limited and are subject to availability.
Does my child need to have a current shot record?
You will need to have your child's most current immunizations at registration. If your child is not current on immunization you will be asked to ensure they get required shots prior to the first day of school. Please contact your school nurse if you need support with this.
Is child care available before and after school?
CISD does not provide before and after school care for pre-kindergarten students, however, there are many childcare programs that do. Contact your neighborhood school for options.
