    Crowley ISD will host the second annual Black History Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 29, at North Crowley High School. All CISD schools will be represented in the team competition, hosting four students per team plus an alternate. There are two age divisions for the competition:

    Elementary: Grades 3-6   //   Senior: Grades 7-12

    Admission is free for all spectators. Students competing in the quiz bowl will receive free breakfast and lunch. Food will be available for purchase for parents and other spectators (cash only). Don't miss the cultural activities, performances and games that will be available while you wait between quiz bowl matchups.

    JUDGING CRITERIA
    1. Clarity, adherence and expression of theme: “African Americans Vote”
    2. Creativity and originality of depicted theme
    3. Quality of artistic composition
    4. Overall design

    AGE DIVISIONS
    Elementary (3-6 grade)
    Senior (7-12 grade)


    Two student entries per campus. Must be original artwork. Campus art contests should be completed and final artwork submissions should be delivered for judging to North Crowley High School from 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 28. All entries should be matted and no larger than 24”x36”. Please include student’s name, grade level, teacher’s name and campus on the back of the artwork.

    From 10 a.m.-12 p.m., we will offer 30-minute Parent University sessions on a wide range of topics. This is an opportunity for parents to build their knowledge and engage with Crowley ISD and our community partners. The sessions are a free resource for all. Possible topics include: 

    • Six Ways to Build Your Teens Identity
    • Preparing Your Child For the STAAR Test
    • Pre-Kindergarten Opportunities in CISD
    • Understanding Dyslexia
    • More topics to come

    There will also be a careers panel discussion, exposing students and families to African Americans and others that have found success in their individual career fields. The Pathways To Success discussion panel is scheduled from 10-11 a.m.
