Hometown Pride: Jasmine Tucker

In our latest installment of Hometown Pride, we take a look at Crowley Middle School counselor Jasmine Tucker. Tucker, who is in her first year counseling at CMS and third year working in the district, is a 2012 North Crowley High School graduate. She also attended Jackie Carden Elementary, Crowley Middle School and North Crowley 9th Grade.

Tucker excelled in the classroom during her time at NCHS as she was a National Merit Scholar, a member of the NCHS National Honor Society and held the position of secretary for the North Crowley student council.

She also shined in numerous clubs and activities during her high school career as she was a NCHS color guard captain during her senior year and helped the Panthers earn a No. 8 ranking at the Winter Guard Championships. The former color guard lieutenant was also a member of the NCHS yearbook staff and a Key Club member, while also singing in the varsity choir for two years.

Following her time at NCHS, Tucker attended Texas Christian University where she was able to obtain her undergraduate and master’s degree. While earning her master’s in counseling, she was able to work for TCU as a college advisor. This is where it totally came full circle for Tucker as she was able to reconnect with NCHS and Crowley High School through its partnership with TCU College Advising Corps.

“I was able to connect with North Crowley and CHS through awesome people like Mrs. Angie Wilkerson and fellow advisers. Even though I served my two years as an adviser in another district, it was still a blessing to be able to connect with my old stomping grounds,” said Tucker.

Tucker began her teaching career in the district at NCHS where she worked as an English II and AVID III teacher at North Crowley from 2018 through 2020. During her second year at NCHS, Tucker was able to write the English II curriculum for the district and also serve as the team lead for English II.

“It means the WORLD to be able to serve and connect with the community that birthed me. Although the community has changed over time, the foundation is yet the same. I feel blessed to work with little girls and boys that look like me, grew up like me and know life the way that I know life. Genuine connections with CISD has impacted my view of education and service in a mighty way. I’m forever grateful,” said Tucker.
