''It's a pleasure to serve our kids in Crowley ISD. I enjoy playing an important role in these children's lives and helping them succeed. We strive to help them become stronger and better every day. I believe that every child is a new door to a different world and it's our job to help them explore it,” said Rivas-Artiguez.
She was involved in numerous clubs and activities during her time roaming the hallways of Crowley High School, including being a part of the AVID program all four years of high school, while also being the president of the CHS Multicultural Club during her time as an Eagle.
Rivas-Artiguez, who had over 60 hours of volunteering while at CHS, also excelled in the classroom as she graduated with 3.9 GPA and finished No. 54 in her class out of 586 students. She collected numerous honors and endorsements at Crowley High, including a LOTE Spanish Endorsement and Media Arts & Technology Endorsement. The two-time CHS All-Academy Team selection was also awarded the Biology Certificate of Excellence, a Citizenship Certificate and earned an Academic Achievement Research and Technical Writing honor, while maintaining perfect attendance.
Other accolades for Rivas-Artiguez included being named a 2019 Bill R. Johnson CTE Center Outstanding Photographer, while also earning the 2018 AVID III award and the Pursue Your Dreams Eagle Club honor, to go along with several others.
Her family ties to the district run deep as her older brother John Kevin graduated from Crowley High in 2016. Her sister Karenly, a 2017 CHS graduate, is also a paraprofessional at Meadowcreek, working with kindergarten through fourth grade classes. The sisters, who also have a younger brother Nestor who will graduate from CHS in 2023 and a sister-in-law who is also a CISD paraprofessional, have truly followed in the footsteps of their mother Norkys Artiguez.
In our latest installment of Hometown Pride, we take a look at Meadowcreek Elementary paraprofessional Beatriz Rivas-Artiguez. Rivas-Artiguez is a 2019 Crowley High School graduate. She also attended H.F. Stevens Middle School, Crowley 9th Grade and the Bill R. Johnson CTE Center.
Rivas-Artiguez currently works with Ms. Shelby Brandenburg and her Pre-K3 students at Meadowcreek. In her two years working in the district, Rivas-Artiguez has helped numerous students passionately engage in learning through her love of teaching, while also being an amazing member of the Meadowcreek community.

Prior to coming to Crowley in 2014, Norkys taught 16 years in Venezuela before starting out as a paraprofessional in the district just like her daughters. She is now the secretary to the director in the Crowley ISD Language Support Programs Department, while also being the district’s Spanish translator.
“Crowley ISD will always have my appreciation for graduating three of my children at the right time. It was only possible thanks to the support and guidance they’ve received in this district. Parents always educate their children trying to teach by example and I am very happy to know that my daughters are somehow following in my footsteps at a very short period of time. That makes me feel proud enough to say that half of my journey as a mother has been well done. Thank you Crowley ISD for opening your arms when we needed you the most,” said Norkys.
As one can see, Crowley ISD has not only become a home to the Artiguez family, but also an unbelievable destination where dreams can truly come true.
“The principle of education is to lead by example and Crowley ISD is proof that diversity is one thing that we all have in common. The district gave value to each one of us no matter our differences. Now it is my time to inspire others and to convince them that they are braver than they believe and stronger than they seem, just like Crowley ISD did for me,” said Rivas-Artiguez.
