Mrs. Allen and her family came to Crowley ISD in 2005 from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The Allens enrolled their two children, Kahlil and Amaya, in Crowley ISD and Mrs. Allen immediately began working in the District.

The positive impact Mrs. Allen has made in Crowley ISD is seen through the dozens of nominations submitted on her behalf. Almost every employee at Summer Creek Middle School took the time to tell the Heartbeat committee why Mrs. Allen deserves this award:

·         “Mrs. Allen is a true champion for our campus and goes above and beyond to make SCMS a great place to be.”

·         “She quietly, efficiently, and kindly works with all of the staff, substitutes, students and parents. There are so many small things and yet they have such a huge impact.”

·         “She helps me daily by making hundreds of copies for our department.”

·         “Mrs. Allen is the epitome of what a secretary exemplifies. She knows and takes care of business before you even ask.”

·         “She flies around, always calm and collected, doing numerous things for numerous people.

·         “She is like a trusted big sister. You can tell her anything in confidence and she will be kind and supportive.”

·         “I think the best thing Sonya does is pick up my spirits. There is never a day when her positive attitude doesn’t affect me in some way.” 

·         “From the moment I came in to pick up my keys, Mrs. Allen has been consistent. She is just a breath of fresh air every morning and literally anytime you see her.”

·         “I have worked with many school secretaries who were amazing, but she is the pinnacle of secretaries.” 

Sonya Allen will be recognized at the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, November 19.
