2016 Dual Credit Information

Crowley ISD high school students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously by taking dual credit courses through Tarrant County College (TCC), without having to leave our school district.

Parents and students must attend a mandatory Dual Credit Orientation meeting which will be held on Wednesday, Feb 3 at the Bill R. Johnson Career and Technology Education (CTE) Center cafeteria from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Students will sign up to take the TSI test with their Advanced Academic Coordinator. The test will be during the school day at the CTE Center. Transportation will be provided. The testing days are March 1, March 2, March 3 and March 9.

What is dual credit?
Dual credit is a course taught by TCC instructors that allows a student to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. These courses are taught at the Bill R. Johnson Career and Technology Education (CTE) Center. Bus transportation is provided during the school year only. During the school year, students MUST enroll in both the English and Social Studies courses to be in the program. The cost per course is $177 (current cost, but subject to change). CISD does rent the book to students for a fee of $25 ($50 for both courses).

Who is eligible for dual credit?
Dual credit is for juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA. Students must score a 1050 combined on the Critical Reading and Math portions of the SAT (with a min. of a 500 on each) or a composite score of 23 on the ACT or successfully complete the TSI test. (More information below) We recommend that your student be a mature, serious student as attendance and grades are NOT monitored through CISD. It is the student’s and parent’s responsibility to monitor grades and attendance in the TCC Web Advisor system.

What courses does my student select for course selection since dual credit is not a choice?
Please have your student sign up for the AP or regular version of the classes they plan to take for dual credit. Once your student meets eligibility the Advanced Academic Coordinators will work with the counselors to get their schedules changed. Please contact your Advanced Academic Coordinator with any other questions about the dual credit program.
