Hometown Pride: Stefanie Hartman-Sliger

In our next installment of Hometown Pride, we take a look at Crowley ISD Special Services Coordinator Stefanie Hartman-Sliger. Hartman-Sliger, who is in her third year as a coordinator, is a 2003 Crowley High School graduate. She also attended Deer Creek Elementary School, H.F. Stevens Middle School and Crowley 9th Grade.

Hartman-Sliger returned to district in 2008 as a math teacher at CHS and spent five years teaching in the classroom before moving over to North Crowley High School where she worked as a diagnostician from 2013 to 2018. In her current role, Hartman-Sliger not only helps support students with low incidence disabilities (intellectual disabilities and autism), but also transition age students. She plays a key role in several special service programs like IMPACT, RISE, Functional Academics and Adult Transition, while helping host the Making Connections Disability Resource Fair annually.

As a student, Hartman-Sliger held several positions while roaming the hallways of Crowley High, including president of the student council. She was also an officer in the CHS National Honor Society and a key member of the GOPHER club, which helped elderly residents in the Crowley community. Hartman-Sliger was also heavily involved with the CHS Talonettes, UIL math team and CHS debate under the leadership of then coach Michael Mundt.

She earned numerous honors and awards in the classroom as she was not only named the 2003 Crowley High School Salutatorian, but also earned both the CHS Principal’s Leadership and AP Government awards, respectively, during her senior campaign. Following graduation, Hartman-Sliger received a full-ride scholarship to
The University of Texas at Austin through The Terry Foundation. She would go on to graduate from UT Austin with a degree in business honors before earning her master’s degree from Texas Tech University in special education.

Her ties to the district run deep as her younger brother Milo was a 2010 graduate of CHS, while her mother Donna Harrison worked in the district for several years and retired from the Crowley Learning Center in 2015. Hartman-Sliger’s stepson Tad also followed in the family footsteps as he graduated from North Crowley in 2020.

“I was so blessed to have the best of the best educators during my time as a student in Crowley ISD. I knew that if I could make a difference in even just one student’s life, I could continue their legacy. Crowley ISD is home,” said Hartman-Sliger.
