New Natatorium Now Open

Crowley ISD is diving into the future with its new natatorium that will benefit students and the entire community. Families and residents were invited to take part in the Grand Splash Celebration at the new Crowley ISD Natatorium at the Ryan Family YMCA on Friday, June 2. The facility officially opens to the public on Monday, June 5.

The school district and the Y partnered together for this project that expanded the previous indoor pool from four to eight lanes with additional space for bleacher seating and expanded locker rooms.

“This project is a long time coming, and our students and community deserve this,” Crowley ISD Executive Director of Athletics Daryle Moffett said. “Not only will our student-athletes from both the CHS and NCHS swim teams benefit from having access to a pool that meets UIL requirements for competitions, students and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to take part in swim and water safety classes offered by the Y here.”

The partnership with the Y makes it possible for Crowley ISD to deliver on a voter-approved 2002 school bond package at a lower cost to taxpayers.

“On behalf of the entire Crowley ISD Board of Trustees, I want to thank the Y for partnering with us to help make this the perfect home for our natatorium,” Board President Dr. La Tonya Woodson-Mayfield said. “CISD and the Y have long histories of serving this community, and I can’t wait to see the great work we’ll be able to accomplish together at this incredible facility.”

Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland said the central location of the Ryan Family YMCA (8250 McCart Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76123) made this the ideal spot to build.

“Our new natatorium is located in the heart of Crowley ISD and easy to access from every school in the district,” McFarland said. “But reputation is even more important than location, and we partnered with the leaders at the Y because, like Crowley ISD, they help people from all backgrounds learn, grow and thrive.”

McFarland said the focus now turns to the projects just approved by voters in the May 2023 bond election.

“A promise made is a promise delivered, and I want to thank our community for entrusting us to plan for the future of our fast-growth school district,” McFarland said. “With the $1.04 billion bond package approved by voters in May, we will be able to build seven new schools, make safety enhancements at all campuses, and build facilities like the inclusive outdoor learning center and track and field complex that will continue to make this a destination district and the top in Tarrant County.”
