Eagles and Panthers Qualify For UIL State

The Crowley and North Crowley High School choir's had strong showings at the Region 30 Solo and Ensemble competition this past Saturday as a total of 31 members between the two schools qualifed for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest in their respective areas. 

In all, CHS had 17 choir members qualify for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest in their respective areas, while NCHS advanced 14 students. 

Students earning a Division One Rating at the region competition are eligible to advance to state, which will be held in Austin on June 1-3.

Crowley High School choir members who advanced to the UIL State Solo competition are Kassidy Kelton, Kristopher Martin, Melody Massey, Teresa Moreno, Elani Nilo, Baylee Stokes, Avion Swift, Ashton Turner, Carter Warren and Elijah Williams. Other Solo and Ensemble qualifiers included Melissa Elkins, Dakota Hildebrand, Jamy Nguyen, Aaliyah Perkins and Amaya Russell. Finally, Kennedy Gibson and An Ly will both compete in Ensemble in Austin. 

Individually, Tiffany Omari received a First Division rating on her solo at district competition.

The Panthers also had a successful weekend at the Region 30 Solo and Ensemble competition. NCHS choir members who advanced to UIL State Solo and Ensemble are Kaitlyn Barnett, Tobi Berman, Juan Cardoza, Jeremiah Crawford, Tieryah Forbes, Cydney Ford, Sydney Sadberry, Quency White and Kayla Woodard.

Other NCHS students who qualifed for competition in Austin included Darby Durbin, Zhana Woodard, Mady Mineor, Emily Denner and Dantea Jackson.

In Men’s Ensemble, Crawford, Cardoza, Berman and White all received Superior Gold Medal honors and qualified for state, while Ford, Barnett, Woodard and Mineor also advanced in Women’s Ensemble after earning Superior Gold Medal accolades.  

Individually, Chris Fiero received Superior Gold Medal ratings on Grade 3 Solo. Not to be outdone, Megan Feldman and Mya Washington recorded an Excellent Rating on Grade 1 Solos.
