Chris Hill, a middle school math teacher at Crowley Learning Center (CLC), has been selected as the Crowley ISD Heartbeat Team Award winner for December.  Mr. Hill transferred to CLC this school year after teaching for two years at North Crowley 9th Grade.

“I came to CLC because I wanted the opportunity to have more one-on-one interaction with students,” Mr. Hill said. “If they would have had a place like this when I was a student in school, I probably would have been there.”

“Mr. Hill has done an exceptional job building relationships with both staff and students,” said one employee.

One middle school student in Mr. Hill’s class said he appreciates how Mr. Hill takes time to help him understand math problems.

When Mr. Hill arrived at CLC he went above and beyond by volunteering to revamp the grading program used by teachers at CLC to send students’ grades back to various home campuses. He even created videos and step-by-step instructions to help answer any questions.

“He has saved each and every teacher at CLC an enormous amount of time,” said one employee. “The system Mr. Hill created has increased accountability and productivity for everyone.”

Another teacher at CLC said Mr. Hill encourages staff members to call him at home on nights and weekends if they need help with the grading program. “He gives countless hours of his own time to benefit the CLC team,” said the teacher.”

The Heartbeat Team Award is sponsored in part by Crowley ISD community partners EECU and Inspire Salon/Spa. Mr. Hill received a $50 Visa gift card courtesy of EECU and a $50 spa gift card courtesy of Inspire Salon/Spa.

Chris Hill will be recognized at the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, December 17.
