Update: See-Through Backpacks

PRIORITIZING SAFETY: The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees approved a new policy requiring sixth through 12th graders to carry see-through (clear or mesh) backpacks inside the building.

To give families and campuses more time to prepare for the new see-through backpack policy, Crowley ISD has set the date to require see-through backpacks for all middle and high school students to the start of the second semester (Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024).

Students may carry a non-clear personal item pouch in their backpack. Non-clear bags, such as purses, athletic bags or instrument cases, are subject to search. This is the only change to the district's Dress Code.

Clear/Mesh backpacks are still recommended, but not required, for the start of school. Enforcement of this new policy will now begin at the start of the second semester.

We are also working with our community partners to collect see-through backpacks for families that need assistance.

Following a series of community Zoom meetings this week, we extend our gratitude for the concerns and suggestions provided by students, parents and staff regarding the impact and the importance of this new policy. It is one of the many measures we have in place to help keep our schools safe.
