• Technology Planning
    Crowley ISD’s Technology Services have made several improvements over the past few years. Our original 1:1 student device initiative (nicknamed Phoenix Project) has evolved with our population and our educational needs.   We are very excited to announce that our school board has renewed their support in the technology integration into our schools with the approval of our 2019- 2013 Technology Plan.   

    This plan was crafted by the Technology Advisory Committee with collaboration of School Board, Curriculum, Finance, Technology and Leadership.  Surveys of Faculty, Administration, Parents and Students were used to assist in the development along with our curriculum focus guides and proposed new legislation.  

    Below are some of the highlights

    Technology Plan for the 2019 - 2023
    • Reinvestment into the Minimum Technology Standard for Classroom
    • Upgraded Teacher Laptop
    • Upgrade/update student devices
    • Remain 1:1 at 9-12; 9th grade only will receive Chromebook; 10-12 should already be assigned a laptop from the district
    • This will be dependent upon the number of Teaches on the O: Drive per campus. There will be one cart per 2 core teachers.
    • This will be dependent upon enrollment. 
    • Chromebooks for all 9th graders
    • Chromebooks in Carts for all PreK – 8th grade levels
    • Chromebook carts for “Lending Library” for all grade levels.
    • Remove iPads from elementary campuses where not program specific. As a district we will not be purchasing iPads for student use without a specific need/purpose that only an iPad hardware can resolve. IE…Special needs, Administrative utilization.

    This plan takes the necessary steps for preparation of compliance with recent legislation HB 3906 that requires by the year 2023, our district will need to have a transition plan to fully offer online testing.

    Needs Assessment
    A comprehensive needs assessment was conducted that included an external audit of technology services.   The audit was conducted by the Renaissance Institute in 2008 and again in 2016.   The objective of the audit was to broadly assess how technology is impacting learning, teaching, and business processes in CISD.   The 2008 report noted deficiencies in classroom technology, network infrastructure, security & compliance, staffing & staff development, and evaluation of the impact of teaching and learning.  The findings of the 2016 Technology Audit for Crowley ISD showed that Crowley ISD has implemented all the changes recommended in the 2008 report by The Renaissance Institute and has improved on many of their recommendations.

    In 2008, The Renaissance Institute performed an audit an assessment of Crowley ISD’s technology program. The objective of the audit was to broadly assess how technology is impacting learning, teaching, and business processes in CISD.  The 2008 report noted deficiencies in classroom technology, network infrastructure, security & compliance, staffing & staff development, and evaluation of the impact of teaching and learning. This is a “then and now” comparison on the issues noted, and what has been accomplished for our stakeholders.
